How to provide perfect graphics for your patches

One of the questions we receive most often is what kind of format should the graphics or patch design be in and what is the best way to deliver it? To answer this question as fully as possible, we thought it would be useful to write an article on our blog on this very topic.

HOW SHOULD I SEND MY GRAPHICS?

Before answering this question, we would like to remind you that our professional graphic designers are prepared to assist your projects, analysing your ideas or designs and turning them into striking patches that will leave you absolutely delighted with the result.
So the answer to the question is that we will take any format we can, as long as it allows us to understand the design, and create a patch that you will absolutely love.

However, for those who are familiar with the theme or know the tools to create it, our preference would be vector graphics. Vector graphics are created using vector illustration programmes such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, just to name the best known. But how can you tell if your graphics are vector-based? A simple way is to recognise the file extension, i.e. those letters following the dot after the file name; in fact, modern vector graphics, after being created with the right programmes, are commonly saved with specific file extensions: the four most common extensions for this type of graphics are .AI, .PDF, .EPS and .SVG

WHY ARE VECTOR GRAPHICS BETTER?

Vector graphics provide us with a clear and defined image, which is not the case with some non-vector images, especially not the ones in high definition. However, if you only have this type of image at your disposal, don't worry: send us your idea and we will make the sample according to your specifications so that it is exactly the result you were hoping for.

This type of step is certainly necessary for certain types of patches, such as PVC or embroidery, where it is not possible to reproduce shaded and undefined parts; on the contrary, it is possible, within limits, as in the case of printed patches where it is possible to faithfully reproduce the design you send us.

Once we receive your design or your idea (1) we will then propose what will be the graphics that we will produce (2) and, once the sample is approved, the actual production will start (3).

WILL MY GRAPHICS BE FAITHFUL TO THE DESIGN SENT TO ME?

Each design is analysed by our graphic designers to ensure that the patch realised reflects accurately the original idea sent. However, sometimes, and for certain types of patch, it may be necessary to adapt certain elements in the design received to make them 'feasible': for example in the case of shading (as already mentioned) or complex or too small parts. But years of experience and many patches already made tell us that the constant dialogue between our graphic designers and our clients leads to results that are sometimes even better than the original idea!

AND IF I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE A VECTOR FILE AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE AN IMAGE?

No problem! In this case we will create your patch from scratch for you.
Choose the type of material or workmanship in which you would like your patch to be made, the measurements and quantities, and select the 'Graphic Creation' option: our graphic designers will take your idea and we will work together to make it real.

So whether you already have a file or have to make it from scratch, we are always ready to make your patch exactly what you wanted!
